One of the things that strikes me about the Gospel lesson today where Jesus calls his first disciples is the reminder it gives of how he really understands the day to day work and vocational things we do. This is comforting.  Our God is not far off and unknowing about little things like mending nets or cooking meals or counting the days takings or looking after our children.  It’s a very close and real mission God has called us into.  I thank God that he is close to us and really knows all about what concerns us.  Like Peter, therefore we trust him when we think its not worthwhile.  And just like James, John and Peter, we hear him say ‘Do not afraid…’ Luke 5:10b.
