When you live in the Love of God you don’t have to worry about the shade obscuring your vision of the Christian life (of which ‘the Lord Jesus Christ’ (James 1:1) is the centre of).  James 1:17, which is part of today’s sermon text, tells us: ‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows’. We are in James for the next 5 Sundays.  It’s a book that has been controversial in the church;unnecessarily to my mind given the fact that the shape of our life in God, which James sets out, is a gift from God to God’s redeemed children in Christ. May you grow in your love of God and neighbour as you dwell in James and receive its freedom and truth.
