22nd July 2018 – Putting God in a box…

July 20, 2018 Pastor Matt Bishop

the message for the first week covered by this bulletin, 22 July 2018, will draw on all three texts today:  2 Samuel 7:1-14a; Ephesian 2:11-22 and Mark 6 (various parts).  We’ll see that God evades our tendency to domesticate him by tying him down to places and location (2 Sam 7:5).  What’s most important to him is dwelling in our hearts, made possible by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13).  There Christ brings us his compassion and healing (Mark 6:34, 56).  Seeing this, in part, requires listening to Jesus when he says, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest” (Mark 6:31).
