In terms of ambiguous narratives of Scripture, Jacob’s night-long wrestle with God ahead of his uncertain reunion with Esau is right up there (Genesis 32:22-32). So many questions. What was God thinking? How could a human prevail against God? Why was it necessary? Was God’s given grace under duress? Is there any grace in it at all? It’s clearly a case that there are many angles to it. Whatever your questions, it is indisputable that when we think we have God ‘all figured out’ it is at our own peril. We must listen to him. And no more so, than when he has told us he is unambiguously for us. Listen out today for where that is!
