2nd July 2017 – Sin’s wages…

June 30, 2017 Pastor Matt Bishop

The 2016 census stats that came out this week show that Australians are now less religious, at least statistically, than they have ever been. The upside is they are also probably lying less as it seems part of the explanation is that they are simply saying what has been the case for much longer than the Christian churches in Australia have wanted to admit. That said, what’s undeniable is that people are still as far away from God as they have ever have been. Sin continues its deadly pay check Romans 6:23). But what we have is assurance that the gift of God is eternal life. What do we do?  Be assured that Christ lives in us and saves us. But in that, also hear that he works through us as he seeks the lost through us. This is essentially the Gospel message today of Matthew 10:40-42. It is there to encourage us that God’s word addresses sin’s deadly dividend with the gospel of grace for all who believe.
