There was some evidence earlier this week that we had finally sprung into spring. Indeed, that summer was just around the corner too. But what season is it in God’s kingdom? One for preaching the word, or not? According to our epistle lesson and sermon text today, it is always God’s season for preaching the message (2 Tim 4:2). After all, we are ‘in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom’ (2 Tim 4:1). Conversely, this means it is always God’s season for hearing the message too. So today, we’ll look how God has equipped his church for this preaching task, bringing each one of us into his Gospel of peace along the way.
